Khushi Jain
Program Instructor

My experience as a Program Instructor at JerseySTEM was both incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. Teaching robotics and coding to middle school girls provided an opportunity to share my passion for STEM and engage with a group of bright, curious students. The excitement they felt as they successfully built and programmed robots was truly inspiring. It was amazing to witness their growth firsthand and to see how their enthusiasm and confidence grew with each new challenge.

The role extended beyond teaching technical skills; it was about creating an environment where the students felt empowered to explore, experiment, and solve problems. Seeing them tackle obstacles and approach problems from their unique perspectives not only deepened their understanding but also helped build essential skills like creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It was fulfilling to watch them develop both technically and personally, gaining confidence in their abilities as they navigated the complexities of robotics and coding.

Another rewarding aspect was motivating these young girls to see STEM fields as areas where they could thrive. Encouraging them to believe in their potential to excel in these fields, which are often underrepresented by women, was one of the most impactful parts of the experience. It was inspiring to watch them grow into self-assured individuals, realizing that they could pursue careers in STEM and make meaningful contributions to the field.

Reflecting on this experience, I would encourage anyone with a background or interest in STEM to consider becoming a Program Instructor. The opportunity to influence young minds, help them realize their potential, and ignite their passion for STEM is something I will always cherish

As a Program Instructor, I had the privilege of mentoring middle school girls in building and programming robots, fostering their cognitive thinking and problem-solving skills. Each session offered the opportunity to witness their confidence grow as they overcame challenges and discovered their potential in STEM, and I personally found great satisfaction in seeing their progress. This experience not only strengthened my ability to work collaboratively but also broadened my perspectives, which has been beneficial in my professional journey.

I encourage more individuals to join as Program Instructors. It’s an opportunity to make a tangible impact on young minds while gaining unique experiences that will shape your career and personal growth. Together, we can create a supportive community that empowers the next generation of innovators.

Imagine being the spark that lights up a young girl’s curiosity in STEM. As a Program Instructor (PI) with JerseySTEM, you get the chance to do just that. It’s not just about teaching—it’s about creating an experience that empowers, excites, and inspires.

Over the course of a 10-15 week program, I guided these bright minds through hands-on experiences, where we built and programmed a Taco Bot using LEGO Education and Spike. Every week, we not only learned about robotics, but we also shared stories of amazing women who have shaped the STEM world. These stories had a profound impact on the girls, proving that women have always been at the forefront of scientific progress and that they too can create a lasting impact.

But here’s the real magic: You get to be a mentor who sparks a passion that lasts a lifetime. You’ll witness those “aha!” moments when students build their first robot, solve a challenging problem, or come up with ideas that might one day change the world. As a PI, you’re not just teaching skills—you’re fostering confidence, curiosity, and a belief that anything is possible.

If you’re ready to inspire, mentor, and help shape the future, becoming a Program Instructor with JerseySTEM is the perfect opportunity. Step into a role where you make a tangible difference, have fun, and leave a lasting impact on the next generation of innovators. Get ready for an experience that will inspire you as much as it inspires them!
